PACO Group provided cost estimating services on the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial located at 89th Street and Riverside Drive in Riverside Park in the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. The project involved a restoration of this iconic 1902 memorial. The estimate was prepared based on the existing conditions survey and subsequent recommendations.
The scope of work includes cost estimating following established Association for the Advancement of Cost Estimating International (AACEI) guidelines as well as developing a Class 4 Cost Estimate that coincides with AACEI. These estimates considered interior/exterior granite repointing, restoring the eagle wingtips and beak at the entrance, marble crack repairs, removal of the lead-coated copper sheet metal roofing and prep substrate, among other restoration work.
Cost estimates complied with ADA regulations with the construction of a new ramp connecting the middle terrace to the upper terrace. Costs were accurately calculated using combinations of historical cost data and parametric cost estimating procedures. Construction will start in January 2021 for 2 years, the estimate includes 4% escalation to a midpoint.
